The point of these two exercises is to learn to play a saxophone without using your embouchure and to be as loose as possible, allowing the reed to vibrate at its maximum. After I did these for several months, I found that I no longer needed a high-baffle mouthpiece to get a funky or really loud sound because my embouchure was no longer getting in the way of the reed. read more
